半常绿灌木，高1-2m。小枝圆柱形；冬芽圆锥形，长约5mm。叶互生；叶柄长约6mm；叶近革质，条状披针形，长7-15cm，宽1.3-2cm，先端长渐尖，基部楔形，边缘具细密锯齿，叶脉在两面稍凸起，明显。聚伞花序通常具3花，花序梗纤细，长2-4cm；花紫红色，直径约7mm，4-5基数；花瓣卵圆形，边近全缘；雄蕊无花丝，花药1室；花盘扁厚。蒴果扁球形，直径约1cm（不包括翅长），成熟时紫红色，具4-5窄长翅，翅长8-10mm，基部宽约5mm。花期5月，果期9-10月。分布区域
