臭黄荆根，中药名。为马鞭草科植物臭黄荆Premna ligustroides Hemsl.的根。具有清热，利湿的功效。主治痢疾，痔疮，脱肛，牙痛，水肿。

灌木，植株高1-3m。多分枝，细弱，幼时有短柔毛，老时无毛。单叶对生；有短柄或近无柄；叶片卵状披针形至披针形，长1.5-8cm，宽1-3cm，基部楔形，全缘或中部有3-5钝齿，先端急尖至尾状尖，两面疏生柔毛，背面有紫红色腺点。聚伞花序顶生，呈圆锥花序状，被柔毛，长3.5-6cm，宽2-3cm；花萼杯状，长约2mm，5浅裂，裂片长约1mm，圆形或三角形；花冠黄色，长3-5mm，两面均被茸毛和黄色腺点，先端4裂，略呈二唇形，上唇1裂片宽，先端截平或微凹，下唇3裂片稍不相等；雄蕊4，2枚稍长；子房无毛，上部有黄色腺点。核果倒卵球形，长2.5-5mm，宽2.5-4mm。花、果期5-7月。
Shrub, plant height 1-3m. Many branches, slender, with short soft hairs when young, hairless when old. Leaves opposite; short-stalked or nearly stalkless; leaf blade ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, 1.5-8cm long, 1-3cm wide, cuneate at the base, entire or with 3-5 blunt teeth in the middle, acute to caudate at the apex, sparsely hairy on both sides, with purple-red glandular dots on the back.
