Yan-sui, name of Chinese Medicinal Material. also known as coriander, cilantro, or Chinese parsley, is the whole herb of the umbelliferous plant Coriandrum sativum. It has umbrella-shaped flower clusters and belongs to the Coriandrum genus. This biennial or perennial herb is familiar to people as a flavoring vegetable. Resembling celery, it has small and tender leaves, slender stems, and a rich and fragrant taste. It is commonly used as a seasoning in soups and drinks, and is often used as an ingredient in cold dishes, or to enhance the flavor of blanched ingredients and noodle dishes. Medicinally, it is valued for its ability to induce sweating, stimulate appetite, relieve depression, alleviate pain, and detoxify. "Compendium of Materia Medica" describes its nature and taste as pungent, warm, and aromatic, with the ability to regulate the heart, spleen, and limbs. Originally from the Mediterranean coast and Central Asia, it is now cultivated in many regions.

芫荽性温,因热毒雍盛而非风寒外来所致的疹出不透者忌食;小儿麻疹已经透发后即不能食用;患有癌症、慢性皮肤病和眼病、气虚体弱和患有胃及十二指肠溃疡之人不宜多食。相关论述

Coriander, the whole herb of the Umbelliferae plant, belongs to the Coriandrum genus. It is a biennial or annual herb that is familiar to people as a flavoring vegetable. Resembling celery, coriander has small and tender leaves, slender stems, a rich and fragrant taste, and flowers and fruits from April to November. Coriander prefers a cool climate, is cold-resistant, and dislikes heat. It can tolerate temperatures as low as -1°C to 2°C, with an optimal growth temperature range of 17°C to 20°C. Growth slows down above 20°C and stops at 30°C. Coriander is not very demanding on soil quality, but it thrives in soils with good structure, strong fertility and water retention capabilities, and high organic matter content.
