麦瓶草:一年生草本,高20-60cm。全株被腺毛。主根圆柱细长。茎直立,节明显而膨大,叉状分枝。基生叶匙形;茎生叶对生,椭圆披针形或披针形,长5-8cm,宽5-10mm,先端钝尖,基部渐窄,全缘。花两性;1-3朵成顶生及腋生聚伞花序,花梗细长;花萼长锥形,上端窄缩,下部膨大,有30条明显细脉,先端5齿裂;花瓣5,粉红色,三角倒卵形,长于萼,喉部有2鳞片;雄蕊10;子房上位,花柱3,细长。蒴果卵形,3-6齿裂或瓣裂,包围于长锥形宿萼中。种子肾形,有成行的瘤状突起,以种脐为圆心,整齐排列成数层半环状。花期4-5月,果期5-6月。分布区域
Plantain: an annual herb, 20-60cm tall. The whole plant is covered with glandular hairs. The main root is cylindrical and slender. The stem is erect, with distinct and swollen nodes, and forked branching. The basal leaves are spoon-shaped; the stem leaves are opposite, elliptic-lanceolate or lanceolate, 5-8cm long, 5-10mm wide, blunt to pointed at the apex, gradually narrowing at the base, with entire margins. The flowers are bisexual; 1-3 flowers form terminal and axillary umbels, with slender flower stalks; the calyx is long and conical, narrowed at the upper end, swollen at the base, with 30 distinct fine veins, and 5 toothed lobes at the apex; the petals are pink, triangular-ovate, longer than the calyx, with 2 scales at the throat; there are 10 stamens; the ovary is superior, with 3 slender styles. The capsule is ovoid, 3-6 toothed or lobed, surrounded by a long conical persistent calyx. The seeds are kidney-shaped, with rows of tubercular protrusions arranged neatly in several semi-circular layers around the hilum.
