蒿枝七为同属植物黄花绿绒蒿，功效补气，止血。气虚患者，用蒿枝七15克，泡参30克，炖肉服。外伤出血，用蒿枝七适量，研粉撒伤口。

Perennial herb, 25-90 cm tall, with yellow sap, and the whole plant densely covered with yellow-brown long soft hairs. The stem is erect. There are many basal leaves, which are oblanceolate or obovate, up to 30 cm long and 4 cm wide, with an acute or obtuse apex, gradually narrowing into a petiole, and with 3-5 main veins; the upper stem leaves are sessile, lanceolate or oblanceolate, and the uppermost ones are nearly whorled. Usually, one flower is borne at the top of the stem, and 3-4 others in the leaf axils of the upper part of the stem; petals 6-10, yellow, obovate, up to 6 cm long; numerous stamens, about 2 cm long, anthers rectangular, about 4 mm long, filaments narrow; ovary ovate, densely covered with yellow rough hairs, style short or relatively long, stigma capitate. The capsule is ellipsoid, dehiscing near the apex.
