Lemon eucalyptus, also known as lemon-scented gum, blue spotted gum, lemon-scented ironbark, and lemon-scented eucalyptus, is a large tree that can grow up to 28 meters tall. The bark is smooth and gray-white, shedding off in large flakes. The young leaves are lanceolate with glandular hairs, rounded at the base, and have shield-shaped petioles. Mature leaves are narrowly lanceolate, about 1cm wide and 10-15cm long, slightly curved, with a wedge-shaped base and black glandular spots on both sides, emitting a strong lemon scent when crushed. The operculum is about 1.5mm long, slightly wider than the calyx tube, with a rounded apex and a small point. There are numerous stamens, about 6-7mm long, arranged in two rows, with elliptical anthers attached on the back and parallel anther sacs. The ovary is fused with the calyx tube. The fruit is urn-shaped, 1-1.2cm long and 8-10mm wide, with the petals enclosed within the calyx tube. The flowering period is from April to September. This species grows in various environments.
