Overview 概述

Red Mercuric Oxide is the red oxide of mercury (HgO).
本品为红氧化汞(HgO)。

Description 性状

Red, orange-red, crystalline powder or scales; scales smooth and slightly lustrous on one side,rough on the other side. Powder, orange. Hard in texture, brittle; colour deepens on exposure to light. Odour, slight.
本品为橙红色片状或粉状结晶，片状的一面光滑略具光泽，另一面较粗糙。粉末橙色。质硬，性脆；遇光颜色逐渐变深。气微。

Identification 鉴别

To 0.5 g of the powder add 10 ml of water, mix well, and add dropwise with stirring a sufficient quantity of hydrochloric acid until the solution shows the identification reaction for mercuric salts <0301>.
取本品0.5g，加水10ml，搅匀，缓缓滴加适量的盐酸溶解，溶液显汞盐(通则0301)的鉴别反应。

Examination 检查

Submercurous compounds 亚汞化合物

To 0.5 g of the powder add 25 ml of dilute hydrochloric acid, dissolve, and allow the solution to show a slight turbidity.
取本品0.5g，加稀盐酸25ml，溶解后，溶液允许显微浊。

Chlorides 氯化物

To 0.5 g of the powder add a sufficient quantity of water and 3 ml of nitric acid, dissolve, dilute with water to about 40 ml, and carry out the test for chlorides <0801>. The turbidity produced, when compared with that produced by 3 ml of the standard sodium chloride solution, does not exceed that produced by the latter (0.006%).
取本品0.5g，加水适量与硝酸3ml，溶解后，加水稀释使至约40ml，依法检查(通则0801)。如显浑浊，与标准氯化钠溶液3ml制成的对照液比较，不得更浓(0.006%)，

Assay 含量测定

Weigh accurately about 0.2 g of the powder, dissolve in 25 ml of dilute nitric acid, dilute with water to 80 ml, add 2 ml of ammonium iron(III) sulfate TS as an indicator, and titrate with 0.1 mol/L ammonium thiocyanate VS. Each ml of 0.1 mol/L ammonium thiocyanate VS is equivalent to 10.83 mg of mercuric oxide (HgO).
取本品约0.2g，精密称定，加稀硝酸25ml溶解后，加水80ml与硫酸铁铵指示液2ml，用硫氰酸铵滴定液（0.1mol/L）滴定。每1ml硫氰酸铵滴定液（0.1mol/L）相当于10.83mg的氧化汞（HgO）。

The content of mercuric oxide (HgO) in the drug is not less than 99.0%.
本品含氧化汞（HgO）不得少于99.0%。

Hot; highly toxic.
热；有大毒。

Flavor 味

Pungent.
辛。

Meridian tropism 归经

Enters the Lung and Spleen meridians.
归肺、脾经。

Actions 功能

To detoxify, eliminate pus, remove necrotic tissue, and promote tissue regeneration.
拔毒，除脓，去腐，生肌。

Indications 主治

Used for carbuncles, furuncles, syphilitic chancres, all types of malignant sores, dark purple or black flesh, non-healing necrotic tissue, fistulas, atonic ulcers with copious discharge, and long-standing non-healing sores.
用于痈疽疔疮，梅毒下疳，一切恶疮，肉暗紫黑，腐肉不去，窦道痿管，脓水淋漓，久不收口。

Dosage 用量

For external use.
外用适量。

Administration 用法

use an appropriate amount of finely powdered drug alone or in combination with other medicinal ingredients to make a powder or prepare a medicated thread.
研极细粉单用或与其他药味配成散剂或制成药捻。

Precautions 注意

This drug is toxic and should only be used externally. It should not be taken orally, and prolonged external use is also not recommended. It is contraindicated for pregnant women.
本品有毒，只可外用，不可内服；外用亦不宜久用；孕妇禁用。

Storage 贮藏

Store in a dry place, protected from light, and in a tightly sealed container.
置干燥处，遮光，密闭。

The drug is red mercuric oxide (HgO).

Description 性状

Orange red slices or powdery crystals. One side of the slices smooth and somewhat lustrous, another side relatively coarse, powder orange. Texture hard and fragile. Odour, slight; Gradually darkened on exposing to light.
本品为橙红色片状或粉状结晶，片状的一面光滑略具光泽，另一面较粗糙。粉末橙色。质硬，性脆；遇光颜色逐渐变深。气微。

Identification 鉴别

To 0. 5 g of the drug add 10 ml of water, stir well, add dropwise a quantity of hydrochloric acid to dissolve, the solution yields the reactions characteristic of mercury salts<0301>.
取本品0.5g，加水10ml，搅匀，缓缓滴加适量的盐酸溶解，溶液显汞盐（通则0301）的鉴别反应。

Examination 检查

Mereurous 亚汞化合物

Dissolve 0.5 g of the drug in 25 ml of dilute hydrochloric acid, the solution shows slight turbidity.
取本品0.5g，加稀盐酸25ml，溶解后，溶液允许显微浊。

Chloride 氯化物

Dissolve 0.5 g of the drug in a quantity of water and 3 ml of nitric acid, add water to about 40 ml, carry out the limit test for chlorides<0801>. Any turbidity is not more intense than a reference solution prepared with 3 ml of standard solution of sodium chloride (0.006%).
取本品0.5g，加水适量与硝酸3ml，溶解后，加水稀释使至约40ml，依法检查（通则0801）。如显浑浊，与标准氯化钠溶液3ml制成的对照液比较，不得更浓（0.006%）。

Assay 含量测定

Dissolve about 0.2 g of the drug, accurately weighed, in 25 ml of dilute nitric acid. Add 80 ml of water and 2 ml of ammonium ferric sulfate IS, and titrate with ammonium thiocyanate (0.1 mol/L) VS. Each ml of ammonium thiocyanate (0.1 mol/L) VS is equivalent to 10.83 mg of mercuric oxide (HgO).
取本品约0.2g，精密称定，加稀硝酸25ml溶解后，加水80ml与硫酸铁铵指示液2ml，用硫氰酸铵滴定液（0.1mol/L）滴定。每1ml硫氰酸铵滴定液（0.1mol/L）相当于10.83mg的氧化汞（HgO）。

It contains not less than 99.0 per cent of mercuric oxide (HgO).
本品含氧化汞（HgO）不得少于99.0%。

Property and Flavor 性味与归经

Hot; pungent; highly toxic. Lung and spleen meridians.
辛，热；有大毒。归肺、脾经。

Actions and Indications 功能与主治

To draw out toxin, expel pus, eliminate putridity, and promote tissue regeneration. Used for abscesses, cellulitis, deep-rooted boil, sore, syphilis chancre, all malignant sores, dark purple flesh, slough, sinus tract, fistula, discharging pus, and long-term unhealed wounds.
拔毒，除脓，去腐，生肌。用于痈疽疔疮，梅毒下疳，一切恶疮，肉暗紫黑，腐肉不去，窦道瘘管，脓水淋漓，久不收口。

Administration and dosage 用法与用量

Appropriate amount for topical application, ground it into extreme fine powder, applied alone or mixed with other drugs into powder or medicated thread.
外用适量，研极细粉单用或与其他药味 配成散剂或制成药捻。

Precautions and Warnings 注意

For topical application only, avoid oral administration because of its toxicity. Topical application should not last too long. Contraindicated for pregnant woman.
本品有毒，只可外用，不可内服；外用亦不宜久用；孕妇禁用。

Storage 贮藏

Preserve in a tightly closed container, protect from light and store in a dry place.
置干燥处，遮光，密闭。
