Description 性状
Mao Cigu 毛慈菇
It is irregularly flattened or conical, with a gradually protruding top and a base with root scars. It is 1.8-3 cm long and 1-2 cm in diameter at the swollen part. The surface is yellow-brown or brownish-brown, with longitudinal wrinkles or grooves, and 2-3 slightly protruding nodes in the middle. There are filamentous fibers left by the scales after they dry and rot on the nodes. It is hard and difficult to break, with a gray-white or yellow-white section, slightly horny. It has a slight odor, a mild taste, and a sticky texture.
呈不规则扁球形或圆锥形，顶端渐突起，基部有须根痕。长1.8～3 cm，膨大部直径1～2 cm。表面黄棕色或棕褐色，有纵皱纹或纵沟，中部有2～3条微突起的环节，节上有鳞片叶干枯腐烂后留下的丝状纤维。质坚硬，难折断，断面灰白色或黄白色，略呈角质。气微，味淡，带黏性。
Bing Qiuzi 冰球子
It is conical, bottle-necked or irregularly shaped, with a diameter of 1-2 cm and a height of 1.5-2.5 cm. The top is gradually pointed, and the broken head at the top is disc-shaped. The base is swollen and round, with a central depression and 1-2 nodes, mostly inclined to one side. The surface is yellowish-white when the outer skin is removed, and light brown when the skin is present, smooth, with irregular wrinkles. The section is light yellow and the horny is translucent.

Mao Cigu 毛慈菇
The outermost layer is a layer of flattened epidermal cells, with 2-3 rows of cells inside, slightly thickened walls, light yellow, and larger round thin-walled cells inside, containing mucilage and starch grains. The thin-walled cells near the epidermis contain bundles of calcium oxalate needles, 70-150 μm long. Vascular bundles are scattered, with an external phloem.

The epidermal cells are elongated in the tangential direction, and starch grains are present in smaller thin-walled cells. The sheath fibers of the vascular bundles are crescent-shaped, occasionally with two crescents.
